About Udaan
What is the Udaan Student Excellence Awards?
Udaan is an inaugural citywide awards ceremony jointly organised by the Lions Club of Citizens Tarang and NEXIS School of Business, Siliguri. It recognises outstanding Class XII pass-out students across five pillars of excellence, not just academic toppers, but well-rounded young achievers.
Who is eligible to participate?
Only Class XII pass-out students nominated by their school are eligible. Schools may nominate up to two students per category, for a maximum of ten nominees per institution.
My school nominated me, does that mean I have already won something?
Yes. Being nominated by your school is an achievement in itself. Every nominee is formally recognised and felicitated on stage as an Udaan Student Excellence 2026 Honouree.
Is there a registration fee?
No, there is no registration fee.
Can a student participate in more than one category?
No. Each student participates under a single nominated pillar.
Before the day
What do I need to do before the event?
Two things. First, confirm your acceptance by Friday, 05 June 2026, a quick yes by call or WhatsApp to the organisers. Second, send a 100-word bio about yourself by Wednesday, 08 June 2026 (the bio submission form is sent by 05 June).
What should my 100-word bio include?
A short personal profile covering who you are, your key achievements (especially in your nominated pillar), any community work, and your future aspirations. Keep it factual and honest, as all claims will be verified.
On the day
When and where is the event?
Date: 12 June 2026 (Friday). Time: 10:00 AM onwards. Venue: NEXIS School of Business, Checkpost, Siliguri.
What time should I arrive?
Reach the venue by 9:30 AM. Registration opens at the venue gate. Arriving late may affect your registration and participation.
Do I need to come in school uniform?
Yes. All nominees must arrive in their school uniform.
What ID should I carry?
Carry your school ID card with you. It is mandatory for registration at the gate.
Can my parents or guardians attend the event?
No. The event is exclusively for nominated students and invited school representatives.
How long will the event last?
The event begins at 10:00 AM sharp and includes the opening ceremony, three qualifying rounds, and the scholarship presentation. Expect to be present for most of the day. Lunch is provided at the venue.
What happens after I arrive?
The day runs in five stages: (1) Opening & Awards, every nominee is recognised on stage. (2) Aptitude Round (R1). (3) Pitch Round (R2), selected students from Round 1 give two-minute pitches and a few advance. (4) Interview Round (R3). (5) The Scholars, two ₹75,000 scholarships are presented.
Does every nominee get on stage?
Yes. Regardless of the competition outcome, all nominated students are recognised and felicitated on stage during the Opening & Awards segment.
Scholarships & selection
How many students can win a scholarship?
Two scholarships of ₹75,000 each are awarded: The Sulochana Mansi Jajodia NEXIS Award for Student Excellence and The Parasram Singhal Memorial NEXIS Award for Student Excellence.
On what basis are the final scholarship winners selected?
Winners are evaluated holistically by an independent jury comprising eminent educators, Lions Club leadership, and industry professionals. The criteria include personal initiative, eagerness to learn and grow, and future potential.
The three rounds
What is the Aptitude Round (Round 1)?
The first qualifying round, in which all nominees participate. It tests your logical reasoning, general awareness, and decision making, among other things. The top few performers advance to the Pitch Round.
What is the Pitch Round?
The top few students from Round 1 each deliver a two-minute pitch on stage. The Top 4 then advance to the Interview Round.
What exactly should my pitch be about?
Your pitch should explain why your nominated pillar is yours: why you genuinely represent and excel in Sports, Cultural, Public Speaking, Leadership, or Academics. It is your chance to tell your story, your achievements, your journey, your passion, and your future direction in that area.
How long is the pitch, and is there a time limit?
The pitch is strictly two minutes. Practise to stay within time. Structure it as a strong opening line, two or three key achievements or experiences, and a memorable closing statement.
What is the Interview Round?
The top 4 students after the Pitch Round meet an eminent panel for a personal interview. This is the final round before the scholarship winners are announced.
